New Year Intention Setting

Join us for a workshop to step into 2025 with clarity and intention✨ We often rush into the new year with resolutions and goals (which don't always work), but to create more fulfillment is through intentions. Intentions = the way we want to show up, whether in life as a whole, or in specific domains such as relationships, health, career, etc. Through the ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy) approach of identifying core values (aka intentions), you can gain clarity on what gives you purpose and how you want to feel in the new year. Rather than centering resolutions, you’ll learn how to connect with intentions and cultivate a deeper sense of meaning and flow. What to Expect: 🪷 Grounding Meditation to calm the nervous system and tap into inner wisdom 📝 Reflective journal prompts to identify intentions and create mini goals & actions to align with them 💞 Community sharing & nourishing tea/snacks ✨ Mindfulness Sound Bath Non-members can RSVP here: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/new-year-intention-setting-tickets-1125708848469?aff=oddtdtcreator About your facilitator: Nira (she/her) is a licensed psychotherapist and yoga/meditation instructor, blending Eastern and Western approaches to help folks heal and grow. Can I Introduce You To Some Of My (Wine) Friends?

When you spend the better part of your time off work traveling from here to there across our great state, you get to know people. In my case, most of my traveling involves wine, getting to the wine, talking about the wine, driving around the wine (vineyards), drinking the wine, or having a meal with, you guessed it - some wine! So let me share with you the fruits of my labor (see what I did there): I've met some great people who produce great wine, and I'd like to share a few of their wines with you. I've got some fun, interesting and a few really small production wines from Santa Barbara to Sonoma, and since we are GROWING our knowledge of wine and feeding our PALATES, we will have a little bit of a discussion about the wines, the winemakers etc., you'll tell the group your thoughts on the wine, I'll tell you a few fun stories, and we will decide if we want to go visit any of these guys when we hit the road on our big wine trip (#2025goals). 2025 Resolution to ourselves and our group: let’s enjoy good wine and great company, and as always I'm look forward to seeing all of you at our very long table. :) Food/lite dinner will be served!

We offer free coffee, breakfast, and an inspiring talk highlighting an artist, maker, entrepreneur or creative individual in our community! We’re part of a global network found in over 240 cities worldwide, and are entirely volunteer-run and supported by local businesses in Oakland. About CreativeMornings/Oakland To say we have pride about our Town is an understatement. You have either been here, or you have the desire to be here. But Oakland does not mince messages: to belong here is to make a promise to community.  Oakland is built on community. Creativity and collaboration are what brought the Free Breakfasts to the children of West Oakland, the endurance to the Occupiers, and the persistence to the Resistance. We understand that to live a vibrant and inclusive life requires a diversity of beliefs and backgrounds. We understand that to breathe creativity into the minds and souls of our neighbors it requires the joy and respect for others. Community is not a one way street. Thankfully, we love to share it. At CreativeMornings Oakland, we seek to elevate the voices of our community: the passionate, the freedom fighters, the change makers, the resilient, the honest, and the leaders—without whom we’d have no inspiration, for our community is our future.

Inspiration Club: Visionary Storytelling

Join us for a heart-warming evening of archetypal storytelling, designed to stoke your creative fire. As the late poet Muriel Rukeyser famously wrote: “The world is made of stories, not atoms.” On this special night, you are invited to come and be nourished by this source of primal sustenance. Marion, the member of Groundfloor is bringing a guest storyteller and musician, Rich Mertes, to warm our hearts with the ancient myths and the magical sound of his flute. What Awaits You: Listening to Stories and Flute: Immerse yourself in a collection of tales shared by Rich Mertes and Marion. These stories, centered around creativity, are meant to guide you in shaping your vision for the coming year. Rich will also offer his flute music to deepen into your vision, awareness and experience. Creative Expression: After the stories and music flow through you - we’ll invite you to share a response. Perhaps a theme, a character or a moment moved you? You’ll have a chance to express yourself through art, movement, poetry or music. Or you can simply witness and receive. Enjoy Communal Sharing: We’ll end our evening by weaving together the creative strands from each of us into a collective tapestry as we share our creative responces in community. This space is one of openness and support—there is no pressure to share, only the encouragement to express what feels right for you in the moment. Thresholds and passages are empowered by the meaning we give to them. With the coming of the New Year, as we collectively celebrate another trip around the Sun, let’s use this time to consciously compose the next chapter in the story of our lives. As cosmologist Brian Swimme says: “what many animals know automatically from their DNA, humans need to learn via the transmission of stories”. Let’s come together and celebrate life at evolution’s growing edge. Art materials will be provided. Bring a journal and a pen, or a musical instrument of your choice. Your hosts are experienced facilitators: Marion Segal - the member of GF and the Founder of www.theheartof.us - an organization devoted to weaving community through mindfulness, loving kindness and creativity, and Rich Mertes - somatic counselor, awareness guide, storyteller, and musician. You can read more about Rich here: https://www.wakingbeartherapy.com/ This even is by donation for the GroundFloor members to offer a gift to Rich in exchange for his generous offering. 🌊 Hidden Coast Challenge 2.0: Tidepools, Keyholes, and Caves Adventure 🌊

Ready to take on one of the most thrilling and spectacular coastal hikes in California? Back by popular demand, we’re excited to announce the second annual King Tide Hidden Coast Challenge! Last year’s journey was unforgettable—technically challenging, jaw-droppingly beautiful, and full of surprises as we navigated this lonely, rugged, pristine coastline during the King Tide. This year, as the year's extreme low tide returns in January, we’re gearing up to do it all over again. From vibrant tidepools and narrow keyholes to traversing towering cliffs above crashing waves, this hike will test your limits and leave you awestruck. It’s a challenging trek that's only accessible a few times a year, but those who joined us last year know it’s one of the most rewarding adventures the Bay Area has to offer. 🌅 Our Adventure Includes: Navigating miles of tide-slick boulders and traversing rocky promontories. Passing through the iconic Elephant Cave, a massive sea cavern with stunning ocean views. Squeezing through keyholes that hug the edge of the surf, where timing and caution are key. Exploring pristine beaches and tidepools alive with starfish, anemones, and more. Spotting seasonal waterfalls cascading down to the coast. 🌊 Key Details: Date & Time: Sunday, January 12, 2024, 2:00 PM (Hard Departure from McClures Beach Parking Lot) Distance: ~2.9 miles one-way (we will leave some vehicles as shuttles at Kehoe Beach) Difficulty: Very Difficult (Advanced) Expected Duration: 4-5 hours (finishing after sunset—headlamp required) Low Tide: ~4:57 PM Sunset: ~5:12 PM 🌲 What to Bring: Required: Sturdy footwear with excellent traction and a headlamp (we’ll finish after sunset). Recommended: Trekking poles, gloves for rock scrambles, dry bag for essentials, layers for coastal weather, snacks, water, and a change of clothes. 📍 Meeting Spot: McClures Beach Trailhead. [https://maps.app.goo.gl/gVJJ7KadHqhw6PXd8] 🗺️ Our Route: [https://www.strava.com/routes/3182104786018089558] ⚠️ Important Notes: This hike is not for beginners. Participants must be comfortable navigating technical terrain, group pacing, and potentially getting wet in deep surf zones. Conditions can change rapidly. Leaders will monitor the tide and surf closely, but safety depends on everyone’s preparedness and caution. The keyholes require precise timing to pass safely—we will stick to a strict schedule. Join us for another epic journey along Marin’s wild coastline. This hike will push your limits and reward you with some of the most spectacular scenery Point Reyes has to offer. If you missed it last year, don’t miss this chance to experience the unforgettable Hidden Coast Challenge! 🌊✨

This work-related inclusive club is for everyone who understands that while we tend to work individually, we regularly encounter the same work challenges and believe that collectively we are stronger when we support each other and figure things out together.
